Hiking

Klausenpass - Gletscheeseeli circular tour:

A short and crisp tour. -& Are you crossing the Klausenpass and want to take a break? How about a short diversions to the Gletscherseeli? This is the ideal place to stop and enjoy the magnificent view of the Glatten massif;

Biking

A popular Swiss cycling pass that sees little traffic.
This is the first pass I have ridden in the Alps. Are you ready for a big day with lots of climbing? Do the twists and turns of this pass appeal to you? You'll have a lot of fun!

American cyclists dream of the European laces.

After hours in the saddle, you will emerge above the tree line and then the journey really begins. Goosebumps... you are finally riding in the Alps.

The Klausen Pass is the perfect first climb. It's big and beautiful, but it's not crowded. The pass connects two relatively quiet places, so with the exception of the ubiquitous motorbikes and a good number of roadies, the pass itself is a lonely road.

As for the route, it is interesting. If you go down the east side, you are far from your starting point, with no easy way back. Rumour has it that the Klöntalersee route offers a way back to Schwyz... Don't get lost, leave with a map or make a return trip by the same route.

Klausen Pass Waterfall

The Glarus hinterland is a veritable water tower: impressive torrents pour down from the mountain on all sides. You can hear the roar of the torrents not far from the old Bergli restaurant on the road to the Klausen Pass, before you suddenly find yourself standing in front of the tumultuous waterfall.
The Fätschbach cut a path through the limestone and then cascades in three waterfalls from Urnerboden at 1200 m into the Linth Valley at 720 m. As early as 1897, the central "Berglistüber" was described as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland. By passing behind the "curtain" the visitor can easily reach a place where the overlap is clearly visible. The rock face consists of 150 million year old limestone: the Griessstock.

For safety reasons, only the front and side of the "Berglistüber" can be admired, the best view from behind is denied to the spectator: too dangerous.

Wild Camping around Klausen Pass

For the more adventurous, wild camping is allowed in the Alps! Yippee!

Some precautions to take into account before leaving:

Bring warm clothes as the nights are chilly!
Don't light a fire as we don't want any damage caused by a simple s'mores grill.
Let someone know where you are going to camp before you leave.

And to conclude this nice article, put your food away from your tent... you are not the only one in these green Alps... 🐻
